Piloting, Seamanship, and Small Boats Summer Training - 2008


Old Town Launch Operations This one week training program will introduce the Cadet to boating skills - small boat handling, boating safety, basic navigation, and the Rules of the Road. Cadets will receive both classroom instruction and waterborne practical experience in this course, with instruction and core curriculum provided by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Point Judith Flotilla 7-9; and USCG Licensed Masters - 100T to Unlimited. This instruction program is certified by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, with boating safety and personal watercraft credentialing accepted in and transferable to nearly all states with navigable waters under the jurisdiction of the USCG Inland Rules.

NOTE: At a minimum, candidate Cadets must meet the NSCC physical fitness standard AND be a second class swimmer or equivalent. [Click here for the physical fitness and swim qualification standard]

The cost for Piloting, Seamanship, and Small Boat Training is $150 per Cadet. Cadets may elect to participate in multiple weeks. Questions on the training can be emailed to training@riseacadets.net.
