Coast Guard Visit, Station Point Judith, RI

On Saturday, 21 November, NCBC Sea Cadets traveled from Quonset to visit with potentially future shipmates at Coast Guard Station Point Judith, at the southeast corner of western Rhode Island. The Cadets arrived first at the station's small boat house in the Port of Galilee, where they went aboard the two of the boats maintained by the station - a 47’ Motor Lifeboat, and a 25’ Defender Class Boat. The Cadets then traveled a few miles east to pay a visit to the Station, including the famous Point Judith Lighthouse, which was constructed in 1857. With Block Island beckoning about a dozen miles to the south, the Cadets were joined by several Coast Guard personnel as they toured the station facility, which was built in 1937.
