Summer Training
For US Naval Sea Cadets, the most eagerly anticipated event of the year is summer training. In 2003, NCBC cadets traveled across the country to take part in training that ranged from basic seamanship; advanced training with the US Coast Guard in Portland, Maine; search and rescue, leadership, and advanced airman training at Pensacola, Florida; advanced seamanship training on US Navy LCAC hovercraft at Camp Pendleton, California; and the all-important recruit training at locations around the country. An exceptional experience for any teenager, bar none. An exceptional value for any parent, being that every summer training event in the US costs a grand total of $40.00 per week, which includes everything except transportation to the training location.
