Strawberry Pancake Fly-In, Richmond Field
| On 14 July, 2007 (Bastille Day!), NCBC Sea Cadets joined with the folks from the Experimental Aircraft Association, EAA Chapter 1363, Ocean State Aviators, for the annual "Strawberry Pancake Fly-In," drawing aviators and onlookers from around the northeast. Combining a stunning summer day with great food, great people, and great airplanes, the Cadets had a marvelous time while assisting staff at Richmond Airport in Kingston, RI, meeting and greeting arriving pilots, keeping a watchful eye on the field, and guiding visitors to parking. The day culminated with each Cadet getting a chance to see West Kingston from a unique vantage point, as they climbed aboard a 1940 Piper Cub and took off for a flight with Joel Rawson, the Senior V.P. and Executive Editor for the Providence Journal. Our thanks to Mr. Rawson for his efforts in making this event a day to remember for the Cadets.
