Naval Academy Weekend, 26-28 March, 2004

On the evening of 26 March, 2004, twenty-three Cadets from NCBC Battalion and FALCON Division assembled at T.F. Green Airport to embark on a unique adventure - a full weekend at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. The intent was for the Sea Cadets to undergo an "immersion experience" at the Academy - to not only observe what life at the Naval Academy is like for the Midshipmen, but to experience it first hand. The weekend program was organized by Academy midshipmen themselves, many of whom were Sea Cadets. With the knowledge that having a successful Sea Cadet career is a big plus for any young person contemplating admission to the Naval Academy, there was high interest. There was only one expense for this exercise - the cost of the round-trip flight to Baltimore-Washington Airport, which was covered under a group rate with Southwest Airlines. Upon their arrival at the Naval Academy, the NCBC and FALCON Cadets joined with their shipmates from several other units, making for a massive Sea Cadet presence on the beautiful Academy campus over a relatively pleasant early spring weekend.

More information on the how this program was organized by the Midshipmen at the Naval Academy can be found in this news article on the dcmilitary.com web site; select this link to go there now.
