Cruise Aboard USCGC JUNIPER, Newport RI
| On 6-7 February 2008, two NCBC Sea Cadets had the priviledge of setting off with the officers and crew of the Coast Guard Cutter JUNIPER (WLB 201), the lead ship of the 225' sea-going buoytenders, on a working voyage to perform maintenance and replacement of several Aids to Navigation (ATONs) in the waters off the southeast New England coastline. During this two day cruise, the Cadets were mentored by crewmembers, and received hands-on training and experience in deck operations, as well as orientation to the bridge and ship's systems. We are very grateful for the hospitality and support offered by LCDR Rick Wester, Commanding Officer aboard JUNIPER, and to all her officers and crew. |
