Maritime Industrial Skills, Wickford Harbor
| On 20 September, NCBC Sea Cadets engaged in a day of shoreside and waterborne training, honing their skills in marlinspike seamanship and boat handling in Wickford Harbor. Cadets also received an introduction to basic engine mechanics, doing a partial assembly of a small diesel marine engine and learning about principles of fuel injection, heat transfer (thermodynamics), and the use of some very large hand tools. Our League Cadets then took the helm of our 26' double-ender navy whaleboat as we cruised through Wickford Harbor, and the Cadets manned the rails as we passed the crowds on shore.
