NSCC Flagship Competition, Camp Edwards, Cape Cod, MA
From 24 - 26 April 2009, the Quonset Point NCBC Sea Cadets joined their shipmates from throughout New England for the 18th annual weekend of competition, comaraderie, and good times at the 22,000 acre Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR) in Cape Cod. MMR is home to U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Camp Edwards, Otis Air National Guard Base and the 6th Space Warning Squadron. The cadets spent their weekend in competitions that included events in signal flags, semaphore, knot tying, morse code, honor guard drill, heaving line, military drill, firefighting, first aid and stretcher bearing, marksmanship, and the all-important personnel inspection. NCBC Cadets put in an outstanding performance, bringing home several silver and bronze medals, and the very first Best All-Around Trophy, won by the NCBC League Cadets (ages 10-14). The annual Flagship Competition was ably hosted by our shipmates at NSCC Gosnold Division & NLCC Training Ship Patriot State, commanded by LCDR James McLoughlin.
