Echo Taps

Click here to play TapsOn Saturday, 16 May 2009, NCBC Sea Cadets participated in what has become an annual tradition, both in Rhode Island as well as across the nation. That event, Echo Taps, was held at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, and drew nearly 50 horn players from around the region to play the simple melody familiar to all service men and women - Taps. NCBC Cadets distributed themselves around a perimeter circle surrounding the World War II memorial, and as Taps began playing in a counterclockwise sequence, each Cadet came to attention and saluted as the bugler off their left shoulder began playing. The salute was held during the duration of the playing, and the procession of notes continued for several minutes as each player began their rendition.

A Providence Journal story and video on the event can be found by selecting this link. For the images below, click on any photo to see a larger view. It will open in a new window (unless you have popups disabled) - no need to reload this page.
