Color Guard, Fleet Reserve Association Regional Convention
| On 10 September, 2005, the NCBC Cadet Color Guard trooped the colors to open the annual Regional Convention of the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) at Naval Station Newport, RI. The local affiliate of the FRA, Branch 42, is the founding sponsoring organization of the unit. On our way back from Newport, we happened upon an interesting individual, fresh from his recent appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman. Jonathan "Willy" Williams, a world-famous distance runner, was nearly home after running across the United States, beginning at Newport Beach, CA and completing his run at Newport, RI. The primary purpose behind Mr. Williams' effort was simple - to "promote a positive outlook." As it turned out, Mr. Williams' mission mirrored the mission of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
