Dinner With RADM Butler

On 10 June 2002, Rear Admiral John D. Butler, currently the U.S. Navy's Program Executive Officer for Submarines (PEO-SUB) and formerly the Commander of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI, and Deputy Commander for Undersea Technology (NAVSEA 93) in Washington, DC; met with the cadets over dinner at the Naval Station Newport Officers Club. After dinner, RADM Butler regaled the cadets with tales of his career, including the ships and submarines he served aboard. The conversation ranged from the deeply philosophical to the eminently practical, and a lively exchange between the Admiral and the cadets proved to be highly entertaining to the parents that were also in attendance.
