The Sea Bee Returns to Davisville and the Sea Bee Museum

On 4 October, NCBC Sea Cadets witnessed an event that was highly anticipated, and a long time coming. After nearly a year of careful and loving restoration, the original Bee returned to its home at the Seabee Museum in Davisville, RI (http://www.seabeesmuseum.com/FightingBee.html). This Bee had stood as the sentinel to the entrance of Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) for many years when Davisville was the center of the universe for the U.S. Navy Seabees. Time and the elements had taken their toll, and volunteers from Seabee Veterans of America, Island X-1, and the Quonset Davisville Navy Yacht Club, put in many hours of their time and toil to bring the Bee back to as-new condition, if not better than new. Rigged and placed by volunteers from Local 57 of the International Union of Operating Engineers' apprenticeship and training program, the 3000 pound Bee now takes post again, standing watch at the entrance of the Seabee Museum in Davisville, RI.
